Russia airstrike destroys Daesh bomb-making facility in Syria
Russia airstrike destroys Daesh bomb-making facility in Syria

Russia says a bomb-making facility as well as a command post belonging to the Takfiri Daesh terror groups has been destroyed in Moscow’s anti-terror airstrikes in Syria.

On Friday, Russian media quoted Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov as saying that the country’s air forces carried out six precision strikes against Daesh positions in Syria.

“Sukhoi Su-25 attack planes have fully destroyed a large landmine and improvised explosive device production facility, which was disguised as a gas container plant, in the area of Maaret-al-Nuuman, Idlib province,” he said.

According to the Russian official, a nearby terrorist base was also dismantled in the attack.

Russian air forces targeted an underground militant command post in Hama Province.

Russia’s Defense Ministry has said over 50 warplanes and helicopters are involved in the country’s airstrikes against militants in Syria.

Moscow began its military campaign against terrorists on Wednesday upon a request from the Damascus government, shortly after the upper house of the Russian parliament gave President Vladimir Putin the mandate to use military force in Syria.

Earlier on Friday, Alexei Pushkov, who serves as the chairman of the Committee for International Affairs at the Russian State Duma said Moscow will be intensifying its attacks against the militants in Syria while studying the risks associated with an extensive operation.

In his recent speech at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, Russian President Vladimir Putin denounced the West’s failure to cooperate with the Syrian government in battle against Daesh terror group as a huge mistake.

The Russian air raids on Daesh bases come as the US and its allies including the Persian Gulf Arab kingdoms – which have actively supported the foreign-backed war in Syria since 2011 – have been involved in airstrikes against alleged Daesh militants in Syria without authorization from the Syrian government.
